How to Calculate 16:9 or 4:3 LED Screen Size – GDHANHENG

BLOG, News 2022-08-21

When we design the size of LED display screen, there are two common ratios:

  • 16:9 ratio,
  • 4:3 ratio.

16:9 calculation method

The width of the LED screen is the square root of the square meter multiplied by 16 and then divided by 12

The height of the LED screen is the square root of the square meter multiplied by 9 and then divided by 12

Example 1

For example, if you want to make a 30-square indoor screen

The square root of 30 is 5.47;

So,

  • width = 5.47*16=87.52/12=7.29
  •  height = 35.47*9=49.23/12=4.10

Note: The specific value can be determined according to the size of the unit board/module/cabinet.

Example 2

For example, if you want to make a 10.56 square indoor LED screen

Solution: Set LED screen length of 16x, width of 9 x.

16X * 9X = 10.56

144×2 = 10.56

√144×2 =√10.56

12X = 3.25

X = 0.27

Screen Length: 16X = 0.27 = 4.32m

Screen width: 9X = 9 * 0.27 = 2.43m

Display area: long * wide =4.32*2.43=10.4976m2

Note: there will be a bit of error, according to the actual size of the LED module to adjust the length and width of the size.

For example, P10 LED module size:

320mm*160mm

LED module Long number: 4.32/0.32=13.5

Number of modules 13 or 14, calculated according to customer requirements:

  • If the length is 13 modules, the screen length is: 13*0.32=4.16m
  • If the length is 14 modules, the screen length is: 14*0.32=4.48m

LED modules Width number:  2.43/0.16=15.1875

Number of modules 15 or 16, calculated according to customer requirements

  • if the width is 15 modules, the screen width is: 15*0.16=2.4m
  • if the width is 16 modules, the screen width is: 16*0.16=2.56m

So there are 2 types of screens:

  • 4.16*=2.4=9.984m2
  • 4.48*=2.56=11.4688m2

4:3 calculation method Method

The width is the square root of the result of dividing the square by 12 multiplied by 4

The height is the square root of the result of dividing the square by 12 multiplied by 3

Example 2

Still calculated based on a 30 square meter indoor LED display

The square number 30 divided by 12, which is 2.5, and the square root of 2.5 is 1.58;

So,

  • Width: 1.58*4=6.32
  • Height: 1.58*3=4.74

Note: The specific value can be determined according to the size of the unit board/module/box.
